What is Carbon Neutral?

Carbon Neutral means that Shiok Kitchen Catering is doing our part to help the environment by balancing out the carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions we produce.

Carbon dioxide is emitted from:

How To Be Carbon Neutral?

Reduce emissions

By using eco-friendly packaging, planning deliveries better, sourcing local ingredients, and cutting down waste.

Offset the rest

By supporting green projects that absorb or prevent the same amount of CO₂ from going into the air.

Offsetting Carbon Emissions

All calculations of carbon emissions are based on a "Gate to Gate" methodology - meaning that only the emissions produced within Shiok Kitchen Catering’s operational site is considered.

Determine Water, Electricity, Gas Consumption

Calculate the amount of water, electricity, and gas consumed per event (hours or days) based on an average.

Determine Diesel Consumption

We utilise location tracking applications to determine the exact location and distance that drivers took to deliver the food.

Determine Amount of Waste Produced

Gather the total amount of food and general waste generated from the event through the on-ground team, and calculate the amount of water wasted during the cooking process and throughout the event.

Calculate the amount of CO2 emitted (CO2e)

Our team will utilise the Emission 2 Cert Conversion Table to calculate the total carbon emissions generated from the event, determine the number of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) required to offset these emissions, and proceed to purchase the necessary RECs from REDEX.

Each REC = 405 CO₂e.
